Frutos is a product idea that came to mind as a result of the need to diversify the economy in the coffee region of Colombia. Many coffee farms are covered with fruit trees which provide shade for coffee trees.

By partnering with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), Level Ground Trading initiated the establishment of a commercial fruit drying operation which employs women who have been displaced by violence. Fresh, sun ripened tropical fruit is dried without the use of additives, resulting in a healthy snack which "bursts" with flavour in your mouth.

Cane Sugar

Through the development of Panela de los Andes, Level Ground Trading is seeking to support the smude grown. This slow ripening cane produces a rich tasting sugar. The cottage based method of processing the cane juice produces free flowing crystals. Panela is sourced from a community of cane growall scale cane growers in southern Colombia. These cane growers are small scale, using environmentally friendly farming methods to grow premium, slow ripening sugar cane. The processing of the cane is done in a cottage industry style which leaves the economic benefit of the value add process right within the farming community.

Panela de los Andes

Panela de los Andes is a beautiful brown cane sugar made from a blend of three species of sugar cane, all high altiters in southern Colombia where there is no spraying of harmful pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Panela de los Andes is a product of Fruandes Ltda. Fruandes provides fair wages, healthcare benefits and school tuition for refugee families living in Cazuca Colombia.
